ABOUT ME
Welcome, my name is Troy Welch and I am a designer and Illustrator born and raised in New York City. I have always been artistic starting at a very young age drawing dinosaurs then moving up to characters from Dragon Ball Z and later portraits. When I attended Ralph R. McKee High School on Staten Island where I currently live, I naturally went into their Graphic Design program. This is where it all really started for me. My graphic design teacher Mr. Leo Gordon who I am eternally grateful for, worked me to the bone, accepting nothing less than what he thought was the higher end of my potential. He held me to a higher standard, had me tutor other students, gave me live freelance jobs that I would stay after school to complete and helped me not only graduate top of the class, but also helped me earn the Robert and Carmine DeSantis Scholarship Award.

In 2020 graduated from Kingsborough Community College with an AAS in Graphic Design and Illustration.

During my time at Kingsborough I stretched myself thin working hard to be involved in as much design work as I could to better myself as a creative and as a professional.
In 2019 I interned at Relix Media (Relix Magazine is a print and online publication that focuses on the live music scene). This was my first real inside look at what I would be doing in the field.
I later interned at Kingsborough Community College's Communications department as a Graphic Designer where I designed holiday greeting cards for the president of the school, as well as posters for events and info sessions.

Also in the late months of 2019 I was invited by one of my professors, Kristin Derimanova, who was also the Chairperson for the art department at Kingsborough Community College, to be part of a 2 person design team tasked with designing the school's Antheon. The Antheon is a professionally published journal of the arts for Kingsborough students. I myself have several pieces showcased within the booklet.

Currently I am working on my own comic book named Stellar Nova, and have been doing freelance design, joining competitions and entering exhibits like Famicase (which I've made it in to for 2 years now) whenever I can.
